CILANTRO - (Coriandrum Sativum) A time honored antibiotic. When you see the word for an herb called Cilantro, think Coriander and you will make the right connection. The Spanish, some time back, decided to develop their own pronunciation for the name of the plant, hence, Coriander became Cilantro. The Spanish- speaking peoples of South America and North America do relish the taste of this slender, green, annual plant chopped up in their food, for the zing it adds and to encourage the appetite. Be that as it may, the plant and its seeds have been in use since Biblical times by the then Egyptians, and to this day by the Hebrews, in the religious observance of Passover commemorating their exodus from Egypt. The seed of the plant (which emits a smell similar to the insect known as bedbugs) is actually a pretty good antibiotic. You can understand then ,why it was used by the Romans in food preservation. It is no wonder it was used in medicine by the Greeks and others for healing. Today it is used in many cosmetics and deodorants. In the Middle East, Cilantro (Coriander) is prized as an herb which excites passion by the user. Many people use Cilantro as a calmative for the stomach and for application to joints, muscles, tendons, bones and nerves plagued by the discomfort we call rheumatism.* DOSE:Internally 1 tsp. (3) times per day as needed to engender "passion" or for the stomach as needed. Externally, apply as needed, to the affected areas.
